History of the Farm

SITIO Caminho da Serra Neighborhood Serra do Brigadeiro National Park (latitude-20.694282, dragon-42.493361, Araponga, MG), Belo Horizonte (about 4 ½ hours) some 273 km, size 7 ha, is at an average altitude of 1100 m. The hotel features pristine forests, waterfalls, soil rich in organic matter and a subtropical climate, with average temperatures between 10 ° C and 22 ° C, all of which make the area ideal for producing mountain specialty coffee. SITIO Caminho da Serra near Serra DASCabeças (Summit Mountains), a group of three rocks exposed. One of them is called Mamute (Mammoth), another is called either Indian or Chinese, and three are unnamed. This mountain is one of the highest peaks in Brigadeiro National Park, at an altitude of 1853 meters. From the initial "overhead," trails to other units can be seen. At any of the three "heads", one has a panoramic view of the rest of the park, and there are mountains.

The farm was acquired more than 30 years ago by the Miranda family and is now in its third generation. The main business at the farm is the production of Arabica CO. EE, trees range in age from 3 to 30. Coffee fields are wooded with Australia cedars which provide shade in the working cooler atmosphere of the field. Crop processing, picking, drying are all manually accomplished with the goal of creating jobs and increasing household income. In addition to Common EE, the farm also produces some corn, beans, fruits, vegetables, neighbors, workers and partners.

Caminho da Serra is located 5 km from the city of Araponga and has primeval forests, rich springs and native plant species such as bromeliads, orchids, muruçis and cecropias within the forest reserve and gives importance to the protection of the environment.

Coffee processing system

The treatment and preparation system used is dry, or solarized, wherein the fruit remains intact (rice husk, parchment, mucus, beans). Coffee is picked by hand, creating jobs. After being picked, coffee is washed and ripe cherries are separated from water with floaters. The ripe cherries are pre-dried in the courtyard and later in the African bed, a sun drying they develop striking aroma, taste and body. After drying, they CO. EE is stored in a rest box to maintain quality until it is ready for processing.
