Uganda UGANDA

Uganda is located in the Grand Canyon of East Africa, in the heart of East Africa, across the equator.

It is bordered by South Sudan to the north, the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, Tanzania and Rwanda to the south and Kenya to the east.

The whole country is located on the plateau, with an average elevation of 900 meters.

There are high mountains and deep valleys in the territory, and there is a peak of 5120 meters of snow all the year round in the west. Egong Peak on the eastern boundary is 4322 meters above sea level.

Most parts of the south are only 1524 meters above sea level; the north is only 610 meters above sea level.

There are hot and dry deserts in the northeast, rain-rich forests in the west and boundless plains in the east.

There are many rivers and lakes in Uganda, with a total lake area of 35436 square kilometers.

The average temperature is between 15.6 and 26.7 degrees Celsius.

Uganda is rich in water and fertile land

82% of the people in the country (1999) depend on agriculture directly or indirectly for a living.

Small-scale farming is adopted in agriculture, and coffee is one of the main crops.

In 2000, coffee exports accounted for 43% of the country's total exports. Uganda's suitable climate makes it a major producer of robusta species in the world, and some experts believe that Uganda is the birthplace of robusta coffee. Arabica accounts for only about 10% of the total output of Ugandan coffee. The high-quality coffee producing areas are mainly Argonne mountain area, Bugisu mountain area on the northern border and Ruwensori mountain area in the west. The coffee production period is from October to March every year. Uganda's coffee grade is similar to that of Kenya, with AA being the highest.
