The coffee comes from a family-owned Hacienda La Pradera in Alatoca, Santander, Colombia. The manor is 100% organic and Rainforest Alliance certified, and coffee is grown between 1700 and 1900 meters. The family's coffee-growing tradition has improved crop harvesting techniques and product quality for more than 30 years. They also grow bananas, cassava and wood. Santander currently has about 42000 hectares of coffee, 90 per cent of which grows in the shade. The area is located in the north-central part of the country east of the Magdalena River.
