In botanical classification, coffee belongs to the genus Coffea (scientific name: Coffea), which is a genus of Rubiaceae of Gentianaceae. It is native to Africa and has many varieties. But there are only two main types of coffee drinks that are planted on a large scale and made into coffee drinks: Robusta and Arabica.
Coffee is different from other drinks in its meticulous flavor changes. Different varieties of coffee beans have different flavors, even if the same varieties of coffee trees are planted in different environments. Due to the different soil composition, rainfall, temperature difference, sunshine and altitude, the coffee beans also have their own unique flavor.
In the case of the "Robusta" variety, it has a strong resistance to the leaf rust of the archenemy of coffee trees, and has lower requirements for the planting environment, and the corresponding cost is much lower; however, the Robusta beans have a poor flavor, have a strong bitter taste, and taste similar to burning rubber, so they are widely used in the production of canned coffee, instant coffee, affordable formula coffee and so on, which is difficult to drink as a single coffee.
On the other hand, the "Arabica" variety has a weak ability to resist frost, diseases and insect pests, has more requirements for the planting environment, and the planting cost is relatively high; because of its good flavor, it is often drunk as a single coffee, or as a formula coffee to blend the heavy flavor of Robusta, of course, there is also a blend of all-Arabica coffee.
