This coffee comes from Mantiqueira de Minas, the most famous producing area in Brazil, which is located in the south of Minas Geris Minas Gerais state in the Mantiqueira mountains of Brazil. Mantiqueira de Minas is a mountainous area with an extremely complex and unique microclimate zone that has produced high-quality coffee for more than a century, and many of the winning estates of Cup of Excellence come from here. Take the 2017 COE as an example, of the 32 winning estates, 11 came from Mantiqueira de Minas.

Compared with other Brazilian regions, Mantiqueira de Minas coffee has a more complex flavor because of its high altitude and very fertile soil. There are 7800 coffee farmers in this area, most of them small farmers. The local cooperative Cocarive assists the small farm in dealing with coffee cherries and all related logistics.

The farm is produced in San Jose (S ã o Jos é), the variety is Arcaya (Acaia), and the treatment is solarization. Norway's Nord chose Brazil as its annual Christmas coffee, and last year's best Brazilian was tanned Arcaya, baked by Russia's Double B.

Arcaya variety Acaia: bold coffee beans!

Coffee variety Arcaya (Acaia) is a relatively rare bean variety from a natural variety of Mundo Novo, which itself is bred by two ancient beans: bourbon and Tibica (hybrid). Arcaya's tree is very special, triangular, the sun can evenly shine on the fresh fruit, the yield is very large, and is very suitable for mechanical harvesting; the disadvantage is that it is very easy to get coffee diseases and insect pests. Acaia in the local aboriginal language means "big fresh fruit", big fruit and big leaves, is a very bold and unrestrained variety of coffee!

Arcaya seems to be particularly suitable for the local climate of Brazil, especially at an altitude of more than 800m. It has an excellent flavor and often wins the Brazilian Cup of Excellence Cup. Once transplanted to other countries, such as El Salvador, it is not easy to survive, and the change in quality is quite large, which is rarely seen outside Brazil so far.
