Panama Elida El Burro Estate
Panamanian Coffee Manor Story:
The Lamastus family farm has a history of nearly one hundred years since 1918, and Mr. Wilford Lamastus is the third generation owner of the farm.
The height of the farm is between 1700 and 2300 meters.
More than half are located in Baru Volcano National Park, a protected ecological reserve.
Elida Manor owner Wilford Lamastus's estate, El Burro Donkey Manor, is also located in the Haoshan Haoshui Boguet area, where more than half of the planting area is included in the Baru Volcano National Park, thus preserving a rather primitive ecological environment. Balu volcano is one of the highest volcanoes in Central America. Due to the difference in altitude, the whole volcanic area has more than seven micro-climatic environments. The coffee planting area of Donkey Manor falls at an extremely high altitude of about 1800m, the temperature is low enough, and there are still clouds in the dry season, and there are primitive forests as shade, and the night is cold. So it takes four and a half to five and a half years for a coffee tree to begin to produce fruit (two to three years more mature than a coffee tree planted in the normal environment), while the ripening of coffee cherries can be delayed by about a month. The development is also more complete.
In addition to excellent environmental conditions, Wilford selects African scaffolding for each batch of raw sun-dried coffee, 100% sun-dried batches with excellent flavor.
The story about Coffee Manor-Donkey Manor in Panama starts with Erida Manor.
Panamanian Coffee Manor-Arida Manor is no stranger. It is one of the world's top coffee farms and one of the oldest. The holder of the BOP Cup score record, Alida Green Top Rose Summer in 2016 set a record in the BOP innovative washing category with an ultra-high score of 94.15. The Lamastus family, the owner of the estate, also owns the world-famous Donkey Manor (El Burro) and rising star Luito.
So, Donkey Manor and Alida Manor are the same parents.

Why is it that one of the same parents has a nice name "Alida" while the other is an animal name "donkey"?
Donkey Manor has a history of nearly 100 years, because the original location of the manor is livestock farming, so the owner of the El Burro after growing coffee named it after donkey.

Is it possible to grow coffee beans in the livestock farm?
Not only can it work, but the quality of the grown coffee beans is also very high. Donkey Manor is located in the Poquet region of Chiriki Province, Panama, with an area of about 50 hectares, while 20 hectares grow Rosa and Kaduai, 10 hectares are reserved for cultivation, and the rest is a reserve for the Baru Volcano National Forest Park. About 1700-1800 meters above sea level, the terrain of the area is steep, there are a large number of native tree species as shade trees, and clouds wrap around, effectively prolonging the growth cycle of coffee. The soil is volcanic soil with high content of potassium and phosphorus and rich organic matter.
In the 2016 Japanese barista contest, the barista from Maruyama even won the championship with the water of Donkey Manor.

Panamanian Coffee Manor-Donkey Manor is now a famous coffee farm, but it was almost sold before.
Donkey Manor was founded by Amado Boutet, the grandfather of Mr. Wilford Lamastus, the current heir of the Lamastus family, whose father, Aristides Boutet, was a Frenchman who immigrated to Panama in the early 19th century. When prices were low in the global coffee market, my grandfather's family had to sell large tracts of coffee estates. Mr. Wilford and his brother Patrick Lamastus couldn't bear the sale of the family's coffee farm, so they bought the donkey farm and went on with it. In order to ensure the operation of the estate and the life of his family, Mr. Wilford and his family also had to take other jobs to earn extra income. The Donkey Manor, which persists until now, is a famous coffee farm that has won many successes in the Best Panama (BOP) competition.
