Introduction:

Since the independence of Guatemala in 1838, the Spaniards introduced coffee to Guatemala. They took advantage of the industrious characteristics of the local Mayans and cheap labor to produce cheap coffee and supply the whole of Latin America. It was not until the 1970s that German businessmen promoted Guatemalan coffee again in Germany after World War II and carried it forward. Before World War II, 60% of the coffee produced in Guatemala was exported to Germany.

But in 1942 Guatemala, which was allied with the United States, formally declared war on Axis Germany and confiscated all German coffee farms in Guatemala at that time. In the 1950s, with the help of coffee experts in the United States, these confiscated small farms were divided into small units and distributed to small coffee farmers working on farms.
