Ethiopia Sidamo Coffee Gujikaiyong Mountain washing 2018 production season
Founded in 2012 by Ato Esmael and his family, Kaiyong Mountain single Farm covers an area of about 300 hectares, of which more than 200 hectares are still in pristine reserved forest.
The selected seat on the Kaiyong Mountain Farm is located in the elite Shaquiso producing area of Guji (Shakisso/Shakiso), more than 500 kilometers from the capital, Addis Ababa.
Kayong Mountain Coffee Farm is located in the town of Tarro in Shakiso County, east of Guji Zone, Oromiya State in southern Ethiopia. The farm is located on Kaiyong Mountain, with an altitude of about 1900-2050 meters and a total area of 200 hectares.
The Kaiyong Mountain Coffee Farm was established in 2009 and is jointly owned by three brothers, Mr. Kedder, Mr. Hamid and Mr. Ismael, who are the second generation successors. In addition to the Kayong Mountain Coffee Farm, the three brothers own five processing plants in Yegashafi, Sidamo and Guji.
Coffee is the most important agricultural product in this area, and other agricultural products are mainly fruits, such as bananas, papaya, mangoes and avocados. Banana is not only a cash crop, but also the most important species of shade trees. Enest is the name of the banana tree that is specially called as a shade tree. In addition to banana trees, larger tree species such as acacia trees will also be used as shade trees.
The batch management of Kaiyong Mountain Coffee Farm is classified according to the time of harvest, producing about 150 bags of raw beans per batch. 2016 harvest statistics: 4 20-foot containers for washed beans and 2 20-foot containers for sun-dried beans.
The location of the farm provides excellent conditions for producing quality coffee-the soil is fertile red brown soil and has a stable rainfall distribution. In addition to the inherent conditions, Mr. Ismael, the owner of the farm, has also invested in many projects in the equipment to produce higher quality coffee, such as setting up shading nets on the drying bed to avoid overexposure, and setting up processing plants near the farm to shorten the transportation time between the coffee cherries to the processing plant and reduce the number of variations affecting the flavor.
However, the excellent geographical conditions of the farms are also responsible for many difficult challenges, and remote geographical locations are not only difficult to connect roads, but also the supply of water is often one of the challenges. In addition, due to the partial rural areas and sparsely populated areas, there is often a shortage of hands in the harvest season.
Kayong Mountain Farm's investment in social responsibility not only helps villagers build roads, but also sponsors local schools to provide a better learning environment for children.
