An introduction to the History of White Grass Manor

White Grass Manor, founded in 1901, is one of the century-old coffee estates in Brazil, focusing on the production of high-quality Brazilian boutique coffee. In the family manor of Andrade, White Grass Manor has a history of 117 years. Ismael Andrade and Eduardo Andrade, the two landowners, followed in the footsteps of their ancestors and managed the coffee farm handed down by their ancestors.

Andrade family

With a passion for coffee production and respect for nature conservation, the Andrade family has been around for a century. High-quality coffee is inseparable from superior natural conditions for coffee cultivation. White Grass Manor has excellent volcanic soil, a balanced dry and wet season climate, a high altitude of 1100m to 1200m, sufficient Rain Water and sunshine.

From the time of their ancestors, the Andrade family, which has such superior natural conditions, realized that only by respecting and protecting nature can they receive gifts from nature. So while they grow coffee, they are also committed to protecting the natural ecological environment.

Manor style and features

It is not only their ancestral motto but also the daily task of the two landowners to review and implement the natural environmental responsibility and social responsibility at all times. They have worked with botanists, agronomists and pedologists for a long time to monitor and keep the soil and planting links of the manor in an ideal state of high quality. as a result of such unremitting efforts, the manor has obtained two important environmental certifications.

Rainforest Alliance Certification

To be certified by the Rainforest Alliance, you need to go through a series of criteria. Organizations certified by the Rainforest Alliance mean that they adhere to the principle of sustainable development, protect wildlife and pristine land, and safeguard the welfare of workers and their communities.

UTZ certification

UTZ certifies all kinds of high-quality coffee in the world, covering every production step from coffee growing to roasting. UTZ-certified coffee means that coffee farms are grown and processed in a manner that is fair to producers, suppliers and the environment.

Growing coffee is never a simple task. It takes a lot of time and effort from sowing to harvesting ripe fruit from the coffee tree and then carefully handling the fresh fruit of the coffee. The two brothers are passionate about coffee planting: they strictly supervise every step of coffee growing and processing, constantly think about and sum up the experience of coffee growing and processing, and do not hesitate to invest in advanced equipment.

1. The manor currently has four raw bean color sorters and a state-of-the-art fresh fruit color sorter.

3. The manor is in the innovation and exploration of raw bean treatment, the picture shows Brazil's unique raw bean treatment-volcanic treatment. Make the sweetness, mellow thickness and fruit rhyme of raw coffee beans more prominent.

In addition, they summed up a set of methods to unite their team-- we constantly learn and sum up in the daily work of the manor, sharing and communicating with each other what needs to be improved before, during and after the harvest. In this exchange of knowledge and experience, the whole team has made progress, so the coffee is getting better and better.

When nature completes its mission (when the coffee fruit is ripe), it's time to deal with coffee beans. The fresh fruits of all micro-batches of coffee are picked by hand and the beans are dried on special drying grounds and African drying beds. They treat coffee with the experience inherited and summarized by their ancestors, day after day, year after year.

In some fine micro-batches, the manor only picks ripe red fruits by hand and dries them with African drying beds.

The manor specially covered the surface of the treatment pond with white tiles, in order to improve the cleanliness of raw beans and avoid the bacteria hidden in the process of fresh fruit treatment because of the roughness of the cement ground and inconvenient to clean affect the flavor and cleanliness of coffee beans.

In the early 1990s, under the demand of the expansion of the coffee industry, the Andrade family bought the Holy Yard estate, which is also located in the Salit Mountains, the Hilado region of Minas. Shengye Manor also has high-quality soil and a balanced dry and wet season, and the estate won the award for their superior coffee quality. Recently, he won the second place in the annual coffee competition in Minas.
