Finca La Cupula, Bourbon Honey

Bourbon honey treatment in La Cupula Manor of Guatemalan Coffee

◆ trade description

Cupula of Andica. This year we bought the goods two months earlier than usual. Try very hard not to lose to the leaf rust that is spreading in Central America.

In 1874, Manuel Matthew, the great-grandfather of Dalton, who is now the owner of the manor, was ordered by the state to plant 1 million seedlings in Andica and built the manor. La Cupula is at the Philadelphia manor run by the Daltons. In this estate, the area of bourbon planted at an altitude of 1650m to 2100m is also divided into La Cupula. Cupula refers to the fact that Andika can see the vents on the roof of Spanish colonial-style buildings. From the manor's point of view, at the top of everything is Cupula, which means this bean.

Finca Filadelfia, also known as La Cupula Manor, La Cupula in Spanish refers to the highest dome-like part of traditional Spanish architecture (so we try to translate it as the dome, please see the attached picture). The name La Cupula means that the manor is located in the highest area of the whole Antigua producing area, up to 1650-2100 meters above sea level. The current owner, Mr. Roberto Dalton, is already the fourth generation owner of the estate. In 1869 / 1870, his great-grandfather Mr. Manuel Matheu Sinibaldi built the estate with calloused hands. After four generations, he still has the same enthusiasm and tradition to produce high-quality coffee here. In 2001, the Cup of Excellence Cup was held in Guatemala for the first time, and the estate won the runner-up.

The most famous place in the region is the excellent natural environment surrounded by three volcanoes, namely Volcan Fuego (Fire Volcano), Volcan Agua (Water Volcano) and Volcan Acatenango (Akernango Volcano). In particular, Volcan Fuego is one of the only three active volcanoes in Guatemala, which is still erupting from time to time, and its ash eruption continuously replenishes the fertile soil of the region, making it a unique excellent producing area.
