On the 17th, the Nestle Coffee Center and the Tropical crops College of Yunnan Agricultural University signed a memorandum of cooperation on the coffee variety improvement program in Pu'er City, which aims to improve the output and quality of coffee beans. Wang Hai, general manager of Nestl é Coffee Center, said that the two sides will make use of their respective scientific research advantages to transplant the new coffee varieties cultivated by Nestle Coffee Yunnan Agricultural Department to different regions of Yunnan for promotion experiments, and select the varieties most suitable for Yunnan in six years or more.

Lu Han, director of the Tea and Coffee Industry Bureau of Pu'er City, said: "the cooperation between Nestl é and Hot farming College will combine international and local scientific and technological forces to enhance the awareness and competitiveness of Pu'er coffee in the international market and bring greater benefits to coffee growers."

According to reports, at present, Nestle Coffee Center has grafted and bred some seedlings. As a first step in cooperation, the two sides plan to carry out field trials in three counties and districts of Pu'er City in 2019.

It is understood that since the launch of agricultural technical assistance service projects and the opening of demonstration farms in Yunnan in the 1990s, Nestl é is stepping up efforts to provide technical support to Yunnan coffee producing areas to drive local farmers to develop coffee planting industry. In March 2016, Nestl é completed and opened the world's first coffee center covering an area of 33000 square meters.
