Viennese coffee is a similar feature of coffee drinking cappuccino. The difference is sometimes thought to be that Melange is made from milder coffee, but Julius Meinl, a Viennese coffee company, describes Wiener Melange as "a cup of coffee served in a large coffee cup with steamed milk and milk foam". Manhattan Cafe Sabarsky agrees. The Cafe Sperl,Melange in Vienna is half a cup of black coffee and half a cup of cream, with milk foam on it. Nescafe,Movenpick,Lufthansa Catering and Albert Heijn housebrand provide Wiener Melange with a blend of coffee and cocoa-whether the foam is topped or not. KaffeehausdeCh â tillon, based in Greater Seattle, describes it as a 6-ounce cup of lightly roasted coffee, with milk and cream foam relatively equal.

The English term "Vienna Cafe" and the French cafe VIENNOIS are commonly referred to as concentrated Combao blue-with cream instead of milk foam topping the list. Wiener Melange may produce espresso even in Vienna, but this is called Franziskaner (Franciscan friar). The reference to the Franciscan monks may also apply to cappuccinos: the 16th-century cappuccino monks were separated from Franciscans; the "cappuccino" from the Austrian coffee product "Kapuziner" may refer to milk on top of the coffee (the Italian "cappuccio" and the German "Kapuze" mean "hood"), but it refers only to brown Capuchin robes.
