The successful cooperation between Nestl é and Pu'er prompted the Yunnan provincial government to put forward suggestions on speeding up the development of the coffee industry in 1998. At the end of 2014, the construction of the Nestle Coffee Center began in Pu'er Industrial Park, and the current head of the center is Wang Hai.

Among them, the planting area and output of Yunnan Pu'er coffee account for more than 50% of the total coffee area and total output in the mainland. Data show that in 2017, the planting area of Pu'er coffee reached 789000 mu, the estimated output of Pu'er coffee beans is 58600 tons, and the total output value is estimated to be 2.379 billion yuan. It is the core area and trade center of Arabica coffee cultivation with the largest planting area, the highest yield and the best quality of coffee in China.
