Speaking of the "Red Cherry Project", many friends are no stranger to this name. So what kind of project is the Red Cherry Project? Maybe only a few people can tell.

The Red Cherry Project (Operation Cherry Red Project is also abbreviated to OCR) is launched by Trabocca, a coffee bean trading company in the Netherlands, to encourage and assist Ethiopian coffee bean growers and processors to improve the way coffee beans are picked and processed, so as to improve the quality of coffee beans and increase the income of coffee farmers.

Trabocca B.V. It's a Dutch coffee bean trading company. The company has deep ties to Ethiopia, and its founder, Menno Simons, knew little about coffee until he was surprised by the unique taste of native coffee beans on a trip to Ethiopia. Discerning, he soon founded Trabocca B.V., and spared no effort to introduce Ethiopian coffee to the market.

Trabocca B.V. The company's vision is "Discover,Develop,Deliver". Since the founding of the company, Menno Simons has visited coffee bean producing areas, estates and processing plants across Ethiopia to discover coffee bean varieties with charming flavors. In the process, he went from a layman who knew nothing about coffee beans to an "expert" who knew everything about coffee in Ethiopia. He also has a bigger goal, which is to increase the value of Ethiopian coffee, increase the income of Ethiopian coffee farmers and make it a virtuous circle. So the "Red Cherry Project" came into being.

Ethiopia, which is known as the birthplace of coffee, has a large area of fine traditional coffee trees.

We know that Ethiopia is not a developed country with rich people's income, and the population of agriculture and animal husbandry accounts for 80% of Ethiopia.

In addition to growing coffee, there are also rapeseed, beans, wheat and so on.

An average of 200000 tons of coffee per year accounts for the main agricultural force in Ethiopia.

Specifically, Red Cherry plans to increase the purchase price of high-quality raw coffee beans to encourage coffee farmers to pay more attention to every process of picking and processing coffee beans.

The coffee beans produced in this way are of better quality and taste, and can be better recognized in the end market, thus balancing the relatively high purchase price of coffee.

After receiving the coffee from the origin, the Trabocca will screen it and judge whether the coffee beans meet the standard (above 88 points) through two cup tests in Ethiopia and the Netherlands.

The coffee beans up to the standard will be auctioned by Trabocca to coffee buyers around the world.

Generally, the transaction price of coffee beans auctioned through this platform can reach more than 4 times the spot price of international coffee, and the highest even reaches 20 times.
