History and status of Jamaican Coffee

The history of Jamaica and coffee can be traced back to the early 18th century.

In 1717, King Louis XV of France ordered coffee to be grown in Jamaica and Governor Nicholas in the mid-twentieth century. Nicholas Lawes imported Arabica seeds from Martinique and began to plant them in St. Andrew.

Jamaica is an island country located in the Caribbean Sea, east of the Jamaica Strait, facing Haiti, about 145 km north of Cuba, the third largest island in the Caribbean.

(Jamaica is one of the few island coffee producers)

Jamaica has a tropical rain forest climate, with the rainy season from May to June and September to November every year, with the most showers in January and May, rich precipitation, local fertile volcanic soil and suitable temperature, which has created the mild and clean taste of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. As well as rich, lasting flavor, but also laid a solid foundation for the reputation and quality of the Jamaican Blue Mountains.

The CLYDESDALE producing area is located in central Jamaica, with an average elevation of 1000 meters. Because it is located in the middle, it is also known as the "Heart of Jamaica". There is the largest Jamaican national park and forest reserve near this area.

CLYDESDALE Manor was founded by Dr. Clin Marlite in England in 1800. The doctor settled down here because he arrived in this area and was deeply attracted by the local and national culture. The estate was also one of the first estates to commercialize Jamaican coffee. The local farmers learned that the coffee sold by the doctor was of good quality, so the farmers also followed the doctor to grow coffee.

And began to export in 1800. The farm run by the doctor is no longer in operation, but the production equipment used at that time, such as refining plants, water tankers, and drying plants, are still preserved. And it is preserved as a national cultural heritage by the Jamaican State.

At present, the CLYDESDALE coffee exported is continuously grown by local farmers with good Typica varieties and exported to all parts of the world under the CLYDESDALE Jamaica Blue Mountain brand.

Qianjie coffee is recommended to be roasted to medium and deep to retain its nutty, caramel flavor and mellow taste.
