Colombian pink bourbon was first discovered by coffee farmer Rodrigo Sanchez in the Vera region of Colombia. As the name implies, the pink bourbon fruit is pink after ripening, which is a variety of red bourbon and yellow bourbon. Pink bourbon is an extremely rare bean seed, far rarer than Pacamara and Rosa.

Bourbon coffee was originally grown on the island of Reunion, which was also known as bourbon le Bourbon before 1789. Popularly speaking, bourbon is a coffee tree that belongs to a branch of Arabica species, generally bearing red fruit called red bourbon, in addition to yellow bourbon, orange bourbon (and Kaddura, Kaduai, etc.). Yellow bourbon is relatively low in yield, but of better quality.

The pink bourbon coffee tree has different characteristics and is a very rare new breed. According to its researchers, pink bourbon is a hybrid of red bourbon and yellow bourbon.

Pink bourbon, as the name implies, its coffee cherries are romantic pink when ripe, but it is difficult to maintain this romance, sometimes we harvest some orange bourbon, that is because, the color of coffee fruit is ultimately determined by the recessive genes in the pollen grains. The process of cultivating pink bourbon is not easy. People need careful care during the whole growth period of the coffee tree, and there is a high demand for the planting environment. A relatively closed and independent environment is the most ideal. Only under such conditions can we better maintain and consolidate the unique color and characteristics of this variety, but it is difficult to separate red and yellow genes. If these two groups of genes with strong personality can be controlled. That may solve the problem of color instability, although such requirements are difficult to meet.

The presence of pink bourbon in Colombia and Guatemala is rare, but it is extremely resistant to leaf rust, produces well, and does not require too much fertilizer.
