Coffee variety

The main varieties of coffee grown in Rwanda are Bourbon, French missionaries Bourbon, Kaddura, Kaduai and Mibilizi, BM-139 and Jackson, Robusta.

More than 90% of the coffee produced in Rwanda is Bourbon. A small number of farmers planted bourbon variants BM-139 and Jackson.

Production and planting system

Rwanda is basically produced by small farmers. About 400000 small farm families produce it and depend on it for a living. There are also a small number of plantation estates.
