Production area

It is planted in Chitipa, Rumphi, Nkhata Bay and Mzimba in the north of Malawi, Ntchisi, Dedza and Ntcheu in the central region, and Thyolo, Mulanje, Zomba and Mangochi in the south.

Growth altitude

It is planted at 9-2500 m above sea level, 1200-2500 m in the north and central regions, and 9-1200 m in the south.

Climatic change

Malawi has a savanna climate. The average annual temperature is 12-24 ℃. The temperature of the main coffee producing areas is 13-25 ℃. Most of the average annual rainfall is 760mm-1650mm, with more than 1525 millimeters in some plateau areas and 2150 meters on the windward slope of Mount Mulanje.

Coffee variety

All the coffee grown in Malawi is Arabica coffee. At present, there are mainly geisha (GEISHA), Aga (AGARO), Mondonovo (Mundonovo), Kaddura (Cattura), Catuai (Yellow), SL28, K7, Ruilu 11 (Ruiru 11), Katim 129 (Catimor129), NYIKA (Katim), etc., of which Katim 129 (Catimor129) and NYIKA all belong to the Katim series. Most of its planting is Katim series varieties.
