Brief introduction of Indonesian Coffee in Qianjie

Coffee first spread from Ethiopia in Africa to Yemen in the Arabian Peninsula and officially became a cash crop. It spread to India around 1600 and was planted in Ceylon in 1658. The harvest has been poor. It was not until 1696 that the Dutch sent a batch of Arabica coffee seedlings from Yemen to Batavila (now Jakarta) in Batavia, Java, Indonesia, in Malabar, India. This batch of bean seedlings died without a disease because of the flood. The second batch of bean seedlings was sent in 1699, and the coffee trees took root and grew and were domesticated into JAVA varieties. Due to the favorable climate and soil, Arabica quickly spread to Sumatra in the northwest of Java and Sulawesi, another large island in the northeast.

The elegant Arabica is mainly distributed in the higher elevations of northern Sumatra, Sulawesi and Java. Although it only accounts for about 10% of Indonesia's coffee production, it has a reputation of Mantenin, Golden Manning, Lake Lake Tawar, Gayo Mountain, Ache, Sulawesi, Old Manning and Old Brown Java. But it has made Indonesian coffee famous in the boutique world for decades without being dragged down by other inferior Robusta varieties. At present, Java coffee is mainly Robusta.

TYPICA Iron pickup-is an original variety introduced from the Netherlands. Most of the TYPICA was destroyed by coffee leaf rust in Indonesia in the late 1880s. However, TYPICA mutations of Bergandal and Sidikalang can still be found in high-altitude areas of Sumatra.

Hibrido de Timor (HDT), also known as "Tim Tim", is a natural mixture of Arabica and Robusta. It seems to be a variety of single coffee from 1917 to 18 and was planted in Aceh in 1979.

Linie S-this strain was originally in India and evolved from Bourbon. The most common varieties are s-288 and s-795. It is usually planted in Aceh, Flores and Lindong provinces.

The Ethiopian lines Ethiopian line, including Rambung and Abyssinia, was brought to Java in 1928. Has been planted in Aceh. Another group of Ethiopian variants, called "USDA", was found in Sumatra and spread to Indonesia in the 1950s.

The Caturra Kaddura variety, Caturra, is a natural mutant bourbon coffee that originated in Brazil.

Catimor Katim variety-a hybrid of Arabica and Robusta developed to improve flavor and resistance to diseases and insect pests. There are many subspecies under Catimor, and most of the ongoing studies are on which Catimor is suitable to be planted in Aceh and has a good cup test performance.

Indonesian coffee is very diverse in quality, and the advantage is that most coffee is characterized by strong, introverted flavor and lively acidity. The disadvantage is that there may also be an uncomfortable sense of astringency or a little mildew.
