Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee

Mavis Bank, located about 10 miles northeast of Kingston, is one of Jamaica's government-certified green bean processing plants. The Munn Family has been in business since 1885, and MBCF brand and its 100% Blue Mountain coffee are known worldwide for their careful green bean processing and elegant, delicate flavor, floral aroma, sweet and firm creamy feel. The Blue Mountain coffee producing area of Jamaica is named "Blue Mountain" because it is constantly surrounded by blue mist.

Blue Mountains is located in eastern Jamaica, spanning 45 km, 20 km wide and reaching a maximum altitude of 2260 meters. It is the highest mountain in the Caribbean. Blue Mountains cover fertile soil with excellent drainage, ideal for coffee cultivation. Mavis Bank is located in the Legal Blue Mountains District of Jamaica and is one of Jamaica's government-certified green bean processing plants, about 10 miles northeast of Kingston, the capital city, and has been operated by the Munn Family since 1885.

Originally planted and processed by the Munn family in Strawberry Hill, west of the Blue Mountains, the modern Mavis Bank processing plant was founded by Victor Munn in 1920 and later taken over by Victor's nephew, Keble Munn. Keble is not only an agricultural operator, but also Jamaica's first certified cup tester. Mavis Bank is now the largest coffee collection site in Jamaica. To ensure coffee quality, the processing plant collects green beans from single farms or small farmers in specific regions of the Blue Mountains. The coffee growing and processing site is located in a mountainous area with an average height of 1600 to 900 meters. Sufficient altitude, mild afternoon mist, sufficient sunshine and mineral-rich planting soil provide good growth conditions for coffee trees and prolong the ripening of coffee cherries.
