Qianjie-introduction of Arabica coffee beans
Arabica coffee
Around the world, coffee belonging to the small fruit Arabica species is not native, and most of it is cultivated. As for how Arabica coffee was introduced around the world, people have not found a complete record. And some sporadic literature is also difficult to build a complete communication roadmap.
However, tens of thousands of native Arabica coffee trees grow on the land of Ethiopia and South Sudan, only a few of which have been brought outside Africa. Around the 16th-17th century AD, they were first brought to Yemen, and then they were spread to their places from there.
Botanists call this coffee a typica coffee tree. Coffee grown in Java may be the genetic ancestor of Arabica (or Tibica) coffee trees around the world. Bourbon coffee is another Arabica variety discovered earlier, which is the result of natural mutation of Arabica coffee. The history of the cultivation of bourbon coffee can be traced back to the Bourbon Islands from the mid-18th century to the late 19th century, the present-day Reunion Islands.
Most Arabica coffee varieties that people drink today belong to the natural mutation inheritance and artificial breeding of native Arabica and bourbon coffee. Arabica beans smell mellow, taste rich and delicate, although strong but not bitter, although fragrant but not strong, slightly sour, good quality, is the best variety of coffee, has been very popular in the international market.
In the 17th century, the Dutch introduced Arabica seedlings to Indonesia. In 1877, a large-scale disaster hit the Indonesian islands, coffee rust destroyed almost all the coffee trees, people had to give up Arabica, which had been in operation for many years, and introduced the disease-resistant Robusta coffee tree from Africa. Indonesia today is a big coffee producer. Coffee is mainly produced in Java, Sumatra and Sulawi, with Robusta accounting for 90% of the total production. Sumatra Manning is a rare Arabica species.
Planted on hillsides between 750m and 1500 m above sea level, the mysterious and unique Sumatra gives Mantenin coffee a rich aroma, rich taste and strong flavor. More unique, with hints of chocolate and syrup.
Knowledge: high-altitude planting areas are all 4000 to 6000 feet above sea level. The planting temperature needs a temperature climate between 15 degrees and 25 degrees, and the annual rainfall must reach 1500 mm to 2000 mm. At the same time, the rainfall time should be in line with the flowering cycle of coffee trees.
