Qianjie-introduction of iron pickup and bourbon varieties
More than 2000 kinds of beans are known in Ethiopia, the recognized hometown of Arabica, and there are more unknowns to be explored in the wild coffee groves. Most of them are collectively referred to as "native species". For example, the "rose summer", which we are familiar with and love, is generally considered to be the native bean species of Ethiopia.
Today we are going to talk about iron pickup and bourbon, which are the two oldest families in the "native species". They walked out of Ethiopia, went to the world, and assumed the "breeding responsibility" of bringing good coffee to the world.
Iron pickup (Typica)
More than 2000 kinds of beans are known in Ethiopia, the recognized hometown of Arabica, and there are more unknowns to be explored in the wild coffee groves. Iron pickup is one of the oldest and best native beans in this area. Iron pickup has given rise to many excellent varieties of coffee beans. Such as Mantenin, Blue Mountain, Elephant beans, Kona and so on, are all derived varieties of iron pickups.
Although Ironhide has a good flavor, it is easy to be infected with embroidered leaf disease because of its weak physique, poor disease resistance and low fruit yield, which is not conducive to economic benefits. in recent years, it has been gradually replaced by Kaddura and Kaduai (both are variants of bourbon) in Central and South America. it's getting rarer.
Bourbon (Bourbon)
Juxtaposed with iron pickup as an ancient and excellent variety, there is also bourbon. (it is also believed in some data that bourbon is an earlier variant of the iron pickup truck transplanted to Yemen.) the coffee beans derived from bourbon are also extremely rich. Pacas, Red Bourbon, Yellow Bourbon, Kenya "SL28" and "SL34", Kaddura, Vera Salch and so on, are all direct derivatives of bourbon.
Moreover, with its exuberant vitality, bourbon is better than iron pickup in resistance to rust leaf disease, but its flavor is as good as that of iron pickup, or even better, and often wins in cup tests. Therefore, in terms of output, it is also slightly more than the tin truck.
The two ancestors have made great achievements as matriarchs, and after they are integrated. With the exception of Ethiopia, the origin of Arabica, the mutants or hybrids cultivated or found in Central and South America, India and East Africa are mainly iron pickup and bourbon.
In other words, except for the varieties they mutate separately, the rest are the varieties they crossed. This is awesome. Our children and grandchildren dominate the world of boutique coffee.
Knowledge: iron pickup and bourbon, the two ancient varieties, have multiplied for three hundred years in different soil and water in the new world, creating thousands of varieties and hybrids.
