Qianjie-Coffee varieties introduction

The quality of a cup of coffee is determined by the quality of coffee beans, and the quality of beans depends on varieties. At present, there are hundreds of coffee varieties used for commercialization, but they all come from the branches of these three varieties.

Arabica, Robusta, Liberika.

Arabica beans originate from the Ethiopian plateau and are distributed in tropical areas. the main producing areas are South America, Central America, Africa and Asia. at present, Arabica beans are the main varieties of coffee beans in the world. The better they are, the more they have to bear. Arabica coffee beans are extremely picky about the planting environment and need to grow in areas suitable for altitude, temperature and humidity. And the annual rainfall is not less than 1400 mm, but also need fertile soil, appropriate sunshine and shade conditions, can be described as the aristocracy of coffee.

Growing in such an environment, the growth rhythm of Arabica coffee trees is bound to be very slow, and their physique against diseases and insect pests is poor, and they are easily affected by wind chills and droughts. Compared with the other two coffee trees, Arabica is slightly difficult to grow, so the annual output will not be very high, but the caffeine content is only 1% of the bean weight.

Robusta coffee beans are born without the special aroma unique to Arabica coffee beans, but have a strong, calm taste, slightly bitter, and not high in acidity. Robusta coffee trees are native to the African Congo, mainly from Indonesia and Vietnam, and account for most of the world's output. Robusta coffee trees have low environmental requirements, strong adaptability, and can resist harsh climate and insect pests. In the planting stage, you don't have to pay too much attention to take care of it, just let it grow. It is a coffee tree that is relatively easy to cultivate.

But robusta coffee beans are more bitter and much worse than Arabica coffee beans, so most of them are used to make instant coffee, and the coffee sold in general convenience stores mainly uses robusta coffee beans.

The Liberica coffee tree is native to Liberia in Africa, and its cultivation history is shorter than that of the other two coffee trees, so it is limited to Liberia in western Africa, Surinam, Gaiana and other few places, so the yield is less than 5% of the world. The Liberica coffee tree is suitable for growing in the lowlands, and the coffee beans produced have a strong aroma and bitter taste. It is seldom mentioned because of its poor quality and low output.

At present, two varieties of Arabica coffee beans are mainly sold on the market, while the Liberika coffee beans cultivated in Malaysia and the Philippines have a low yield and are hardly exported.
