Woka Village (Worka Sakaro)

Worka Sakaro is located in the town of GedebWoreda in the south of the Yejashefi producing area, about 30 kilometers southeast of the famous Yirgacheffe town, at an altitude of between 2000 and 2200 meters, with a large population living on coffee, about 400 farmers, producing coffee of high quality!

Halo Hartume is located in the town of Gedeb Woreda, about 40 kilometers south of the famous town of Yirgacheffe, about 1950-2100 meters above sea level, with a large population of people living on coffee, and about 400 farmers who produce high-quality coffee.

The private processing plant in the village is also named after Hartuberries. The owner, Mijane Woresa, has been engaged in the coffee business for more than 30 years. A few years ago, he set up his own processing plant, which is now managed by his eldest son Daniel Mijane. In addition to assisting neighboring small farmers in handling raw coffee beans, they have recently applied for an export license to trade directly with foreign boutique coffee buyers.

The Mijane family has established a good cooperation model with small farmers in Hartoupberry village, not only improving quality and sharing profits, but also repairing roads and investing in school equipment for the community.

The rise of VS private treatment plants in the cooperative movement

Since 2000, a cooperative movement has been launched in Ethiopia, which not only promotes the rise of boutique coffee, but also takes care of more small coffee farmers.

With the growth of cooperatives and the rapid increase in output, the problem of quality differences in different batches began to emerge, thus giving rise to another wave of private treatment plants in pursuit of high quality.

Farmers are free to choose to blame coffee cherries to cooperatives or processing plants, as long as high quality can be sold at a high price, so farmers are more willing to pursue quality improvement.

In addition to the price factor, private processing plants also provide planting technology and financial support to win farmers' willingness to cooperate. Such healthy competition has greatly enhanced the interests of farmers.
