The best shade-growing "mild" coffee in the world
Indian coffee is the most extraordinary drink, offering charming subtlety and exciting intensity. India is the only country that grows all its coffee in the shade. These coffees are usually mild and not very sour, with exotic flavors and delicate aromas.
Indian coffee also has a unique historical flavor! It all began with a long and arduous journey about 400 years ago. The legendary saint Babudan brought seven magical beans from as far away as Yemen and planted them on Mount Chandrajili in Karnataka. The aroma, flavor, mellow and acidity you enjoy in each coffee experience are rooted in these mysterious beginnings.
It is often said that the Indian coffee grower poured his life into crops. No wonder India has been producing and exporting a wide variety of high-quality coffee for more than 150 years!
Growth condition
All coffee in India is grown under a clear two-layer mixed shade canopy, including evergreen legumes. Nearly 50 different types of shade trees have been found in coffee plantations. Shade trees prevent soil erosion on sloping terrain; they enrich the soil by cycling deeper nutrients, protect coffee plants from seasonal fluctuations in temperature, and provide hosts for a variety of animals and plants.
The climatic conditions of coffee growing areas in India are varied, and is very suitable for growing different varieties of coffee. Some high-altitude areas are very suitable for growing mild Arabica coffee, while warm and humid areas are most suitable for growing robusta coffee.
