Coffee legend St. Helena, where can I drink cat shit?
St. Helena coffee harvested in February this year arrived in Taiwan in June. It is understood that the price of raw beans has risen by about 30% compared with that before the stock was out of stock in 2009, which is more expensive. However, less than a month after the goods arrived in Taiwan, they were divided up by coffee shops all over the country. The next batch will not arrive until the end of July. It can be seen that the charm of St. Helena remains unchanged.
St. Helena coffee originated from St. Helena Island, which was added to the legendary color because of Napoleon.
Take Taipei's "Aurora Coffee 100%" as an example. At present, half a pound of cooked beans cost NT$3,000, and a single cup of stuffed air brewed 580 yuan (12 grams of powder/180c.c). However, the owner Hao Mingliang is quite reluctant to sell, because his quantity is not much. He bought it for non-business use but to taste it himself. Therefore, if you want to buy cooked beans, you need to order in advance.
Hao Mingliang had a special treatment for St. Helena. He chose to put it in the pot before the second explosion, which he thought was the best baking point for it. "I love St. Helena. It has a good balance, a charming citrus aroma, and a long throat that lasts for two hours without losing." I drank St. Helena for the second time. The first time, about two years ago, I felt that it lacked distinct personality. This time, I felt a clear sweetness of citrus, but this expression can be found in many beans. The conclusion is that "drinking is more important than good drinking."
St. Helena Coffee is currently available at Tainan Shuyoufeng Coffee, Tainan Fish and Sheep Fresh Bean Coffee, Nantou Weilun Coffee, Hsinchu Iris Coffee, etc. The number is limited, so it is best to call first to confirm.
As for the luwak coffee, I had just drunk the luwak that was labeled as wild. The light roast taste was not sour or bitter, but balanced. There was indeed a mysterious and indescribable fragrance. The sugar sweetness at the end was charming.
Martini Café, which has been closed since 2004, re-imported a farmed Luwak in early June this year. Owner Chen Weifeng thinks the flavor is slightly inferior to that of wild varieties, so the price is also cheaper than before. Half pound deep roast is 6,000 yuan, and a single cup of stuffed air brewing is 600 yuan (25 grams of powder/two bubbles). Taipei Martin Coffee and Bili Coffee are also sold.
