Ethiopia, also known as Ethiopia, is a landlocked country located in the Horn of Africa and the most populous landlocked country in the world. Ethiopia is revered as the birthplace of coffee-Arabica (Arabica), with rich native varieties and a wide range of genetic sequences, many of which can not be found in other countries. Coffee in Ethiopia is mostly grown by small farmers on their own small estates or in wild and semi-wild environments, and nearly 15 million people across the country are involved in growing and processing coffee beans.

Coffee producing areas:

West: Lake Tana (Lake Tana), the capital Gimbi, Nekemti, Iruba, Limu and Jimma, Bonga, Teppi, Bebeka of the Kafa Forest.

East: capital Hara (Harar), West Dharma (Sidamo), Yega Xuefei (Yirgacheffe) mainly.

Coffee varieties:

Arabica native species. In 1975, 227 disease-resistant varieties were found in Kafa forest, which was significantly higher than that in the east, but the flavor was won by Hara, Yega Xuefei and Sidamo in the east. Then there is the saying that the west is strong and the east is weak, while the east is elegant and the west is vulgar.

Coffee processing method:

Most of them are the original washing treatment and sun treatment.

Planting system:

Forest coffee (forest coffe): refers to the wild coffee trees in the primeval forest. Protected by the government, there are special personnel to harvest. The total output is only 510%.

Semi-forest coffee (semi-forest coffe): refers to semi-wild coffee, farmers regularly go to the forest to trim shade trees or coffee branches and leaves to increase light transmittance and fruit yield. The total output accounts for 35%.

Rural coffee (Garden coffe): refers to small farmers grow their own, mixed with other cash crops, mostly under the elephant legs. The total output accounts for 50%.

Plantation Coffee (plantation coffe): state-owned or private land, similar to the entrepreneurial and scientific management of Central and South America. The total output accounts for only 510%.

Grading criteria:

Old grading standard: water washing G1, G2 sun exposure G3, G4, G5.

Harvest time:

From November to December every year.
