Starbucks eyes Burundi coffee

Arabica Coffee Prices Rise in Burundi

The New York Stock Exchange, in conjunction with the Government of Burundi and coffee producers, operators and exporters, agreed on 17 February 2005 to reduce the price index for coffee listed by Burundi on the exchange by 200 points, or 2 cents per pound (equivalent to an increase of 50 Burundi francs per kilogram). Following the increase in the price of coffee in Burundi Arabia, the purchase price of fresh coffee in Burundi was raised from 120 Burundi francs/kg to 200 Burundi francs/kg, which is excellent news for a country where coffee exports account for more than 80 per cent of its total foreign export earnings.
