Caffeine has long been considered a risk factor for osteoporosis, according to Taiwan's Kang Jian magazine. Caffeine has been reported to increase calcium excretion in urine. However, epidemiological data suggest that moderate caffeine intake (up to approximately 400 mg/day) is not associated with bone loss or fracture in young women aged 20 to 50 years.

But postmenopausal women over 50 need to drink coffee more carefully, and more than half of the studies have shown a link between caffeine intake and bone density in women over 50.

How many cups of coffee do women drink a day to cause osteoporosis? A more recent study of 3170 women with an average age of 50 to 84 found that drinking more than two units of caffeine a day (one unit equals one cup of coffee or two cups of tea) increased the risk of hip fractures by 69 percent.

Therefore, it is recommended that women over the age of 50 should reduce caffeine intake. If you really want to drink coffee, you should not drink more than 2 cups a day.

Some people feel gastrointestinal discomfort after drinking coffee, mainly due to caffeine. This is because caffeine stimulates the sphincter at the lower esophagus, making it more relaxed, which causes gastroesophageal reflux, or caffeine causes a lot of acid secretion, causing discomfort. Therefore, people suffering from digestive tract diseases, such as stomach ulcers, duodenal ulcers, or people who emit a lot of acid every time they drink coffee, it is better to avoid coffee.
