World's rarest coffee varieties Jamaica coffee beans Blue Mountain coffee
When it comes to top coffee, you can't introduce it casually. Every top coffee has to be described in a soft article. Today, I would like to introduce the king of coffee-Blue Mountain Coffee.
Maybe Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee is the most famous coffee in the world, but in fact, few people know its history, and the reason why its price is so high. The first person to introduce coffee to the island of Jamaica in 1789 was a Frenchman who escaped the French Revolution. The first coffee was cultivated to increase local consumption and export in France, and the local industry was very small in the first 100 years. However, in 1932, the Jamaican Conference Law was passed to encourage coffee farming to reduce the island's dependence on sugar exports. In order to ensure the quality of Blue Mountain Coffee, changes have been made in the "Jamaican Coffee Industry" to standardize the processing process, improve coffee quality and make marketing equal, so as to save the fate of top coffee. The Jamaican Industry Association is responsible for the quality of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. In addition, the lush smaller coffee on the island is equally good, and gives final authority to Jamaican coffee exports-all coffee must go through the Jamaican Industry Association before it can be exported.
Jamaica, the origin of Blue Mountain Coffee, gets its name from the Blue Mountains surrounded by the Caribbean Sea. Sour, sweet, bitter taste are very harmonious and have excellent flavor and aroma, suitable for individual coffee, suitable for moderate roasting. Blue Mountain Coffee is the most superior coffee in the world, and the weather, geological structure and topography of Jamaica provide an ideal place. It should be noted that 99.9% of the blue mountains that can be drunk in China are only planted near the blue mountains, and only coffee produced in the 6000 hectares above 1600 meters above sea level can be called blue mountains.
Blue Mountain Coffee-Geography
Blue Mountain Coffee is the most superior coffee in the world, and the weather, geological structure and topography of Jamaica provide an ideal place. The ridge that runs through Jamaica extends to the eastern part of the island, with the Blue Mountains rising to more than 2100 meters. Cool weather, foggy, frequent precipitation, use this rich soil Rain Water to reconcile. Here, a mixed planting method is used to grow coffee trees to accompany banana trees and avocado trees on terraces. Some small estates are also planted. But even the largest landowners in the region are small-scale growers by international standards, many of whom are small landowners whose families have been working for two centuries. The coffee industry in Jamaica faces a series of problems, such as the impact of hurricanes, increased labor costs and difficult mechanization of terraces. Many small estates and farms are difficult to rationalize.
As Japan has always invested in the Jamaican coffee industry, most of the Blue Mountain Coffee is now owned by the Japanese, and they have also obtained the right of priority to buy Blue Mountain Coffee. In 1992, Jamaica sold 688 tons of Blue Mountain coffee to Japan, 75 tons to the United States and 59 tons to Britain. Now, 90% of Blue Mountain coffee is bought by the Japanese. Now that the rest of the world can only get 10% of Blue Mountain, Blue Mountain coffee is always in short supply, regardless of the price.
There is a huge demand for Blue Mountain coffee in the Chinese market, but the problem is that the world's most important coffee bean trading body, the International Coffee Organization (ICO, which has 50 exporting countries), controls 99 per cent of global coffee production. Coffee beans traded through the International Coffee Organization have strict quotas. The top blue mountain coffee beans generally do not enter the market, while the blue mountain coffee beans in circulation are "Blue Mountain" brand coffee beans guaranteed by the Jamaican government, producing about 40,000 bags and 170 tons a year. Most of these coffee beans flow into Japan and a few enter the European and American markets. China did not have a quota to import blue mountain coffee beans directly from Jamaica, nor did it have any record of exporting blue mountain coffee beans to China.
