In 1990, when Starbucks coffee buyers tasted the first samples of freshly ground coffee from Narino, they agreed that it was the best Colombian coffee they had ever tasted. Of course, Colombian coffee has always been a favorite of customers.
Our Colombian coffee (unique to Starbucks) comes from the province of Narino, a rugged mountain area famous for its active volcanoes and beautiful natural scenery.
"Supremo" (Premium) represents the largest category of coffee beans used to rate and select Colombian coffee.
The price of the Colombian coffee we use is quite high because these coffee beans of stable quality are also an important ingredient in many of our mixed coffees.
