Starbucks in the United States massage latte macchiato into a coffee list of the sixth drink coffee's new work
Starbucks announced the launch of a new coffee, Latte Macchiato, on January 5 in the American market (Canada, the United States and most Latin American countries). This is their sixth drink fixed to the coffee list after the Flat White in 2015. After hearing this name, you may wonder, aren't lattes and macchiato two different kinds of coffee? According to the official description, the latte macchiato goes like this: first beat the milk into a milk foam (which forms a protein cream), and then slowly pour in a small cup of espresso. The layering of the latte macchiato is more obvious than the latte: the bottom is a mixture of milk and espresso, the middle layer is espresso, and the top layer is milk foam. Finally, there will be a small coffee spot on the white foam.

In the final step of making Latte Macchiato, it is said that the latte macchiato is a little stronger than Flat White coffee, but a little lighter than espresso macchiato (that is, espresso with a little bit of milk foam on top). If you look at the diagram drawn by Starbucks, maybe you can understand one thing:

According to Cosmopolitan, the coffee was invented by an employee of Starbucks a few years ago. After the (mysterious) employee entered the R & D department, the coffee was finally put on the market. As soon as the news of Natalie Macchiato came out, everyone wondered what it was. Roughly speaking, online skepticism outweighs support: some consumers say they are not receptive to this "innovation". Latte macchiato, a form of coffee making, is not new. In fact, Nestl é has launched a latte macchiato before, but in the form of coffee capsules. Latte Macchiato's Wikipedia page has been available since at least December 2014.

This is another new attempt by Starbucks to prove that it is a coffee expert: filling a product gap in Flat White and American coffee. Since the launch of Flat White in early 2015, Starbucks has become more and more like a "serious" coffee chain. The competition they face in North America is not easy: Dunkin' Donuts, one of their biggest rivals in the United States, also launched macchiato in the fall of 2015.
