Kenya is an important producer of boutique coffee in East Africa, but its output accounts for less than 5% of the global coffee market. It is auctioned every Tuesday in Nairobi, the capital, and exported to all parts of the world. Most of Kenya's coffee comes from small coffee farmers, each with about 0.5-3 acres of farmland, but local law requires farmers under five acres to join cooperative organizations. only a small number of local private organizations have the ability to set up estates.

Yala Village is located in Qianbu District, about 23 kilometers north of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, and is adjacent to Cianda, Windrush estates and other large farms. Yala is a well-equipped manor, mainly produces high-quality coffee beans and tea, up to 1732 meters above sea level, covering an area of about 640mu; Yala's owner, Edward, came from England and immigrated to Kenya in 1902 to establish the manor. In the early days, it mainly focused on livestock and cattle for the main business, and did not begin to grow coffee until 1930. In 1971, local farmers set up Gatatha Farmers'Co., Ltd. (Gatatha Farmers Co. Ltd) to take over the estate and specialize in coffee and tea production. Coffee trees are planted at the highest elevations in the area, tea is planted near homes, and dairy cows are kept in captivity at lower elevations. The environment of the manor is unique, the soil is well drained and nutritious red soil, the rainfall is about 988Hao-1300 mm, the original Alibizia tree in the mountain area provides good shade function of coffee trees, and it is also a good habitat for many wild animals, such as antelopes, hyenas, porcupines, squirrels, anteaters, monkeys. And other endemic species, are also in the process of applying for RFA rainforest certification.
