Vietnam News Agency reported on October 16: after a long period of decline, the price of coffee beans in Vietnam began to rise sharply in October 2014, reaching a new high.
At present, the purchase price of coffee beans in Tongnai province is about 4200-42.5 million dong (US $2,100) per ton, an increase of 5 million dong (US $250) per ton compared with the end of September 2014.
According to the report, coffee exports reached 193000 tons in the first nine months of 2014, earning 420 million US dollars in foreign exchange. Coffee exports and total exports increased by more than 42 per cent and nearly 43 per cent respectively compared with the same period last year. Based on current prices, coffee exports from Tongnai Province are expected to reach more than US $80 million in the last three months of 2014, bringing the province's total coffee exports to US $500 million.
