Hawaii is the only state in the United States that grows coffee beans. Coffee beans are mainly grown on five islands, and about 580 coffee farmers grow about 6800 acres of coffee, with an annual output value of about $10.4 million. Experts estimate that Hawaii is likely to double its current annual coffee bean production of 4 million pounds in the next decade.
Of the five islands in Hawaii, Kaua'i has the largest coffee production, with 4000 acres, Big Island second with 1800 acres, Moloka'i third with 550acres, and the rest from Maui and O'ahu.
