Often people go to Southeast Asia, such as Indonesia to travel, the local people will recommend you to buy this coffee, saying that this is a public bean, you usually drink mother beans, so it will be more expensive.

But in fact, there is no difference between the two, we must not be fooled. Strictly speaking, it is a kind of developmental deformity, not growing right.

But when we bake beans, we sometimes pick them out. Because coffee roasting pays attention to uniformity, and a seed is divided into two parts, and a whole, if mixed, when baking, it is not easy to be evenly heated.

So we will pick out the "public beans" separately, bake them separately, and then sell them separately. But it is no better in terms of flavor or nutritional value.

The output of some boutique coffee will be less, so the price is more expensive, but it is not as expensive and unaffordable as expected, and there are many in China.

Q: I also heard that coffee is divided into male and female. Who can explain it?

J: it's mainly the difference in appearance. Botanically speaking, it is a developmental deformity. Because coffee beans are oval seeds wrapped in two halves of each seed. So when you open it, there should be two seeds in it. But there are some developmental processes in which it is not separated. So this seed is wrapped in a bean.

M: recently, there is a joke that coffee is more expensive than oil.

J: coffee is more expensive than oil because the price of oil has plummeted. If you want to choose a good coffee, I will sum it up and pick some small but poor countries. For example, this is true in Rwanda, Guatemala, including Colombia. Even countries like Burundi, which many people don't know, produce coffee beans, and they are very good.

The reason is actually very simple. As we just mentioned, high altitude is good coffee. Most of these countries are high mountains and underdeveloped transportation, so they are relatively poor. But the coffee is really good.

Q: can we buy these fine beans easily? Will it be very expensive because of the difficulty of transportation?

J: not really. Coffee trade has been very developed and mature, and there are many sales channels. There is no need to worry about being cheated, because coffee raw beans are futures trading goods, and the price can be seen on the international futures trading price. Of course, those are bulk commercial beans, which are used by chains like Starbucks.
