The planting history of Yunnan Rosa coffee is not long, and it is mainly planted in "Zuoyuan" in Baoshan producing area of Yunnan Province. Around 2011, the owner of the garden began to study the cultivation of Rosa coffee varieties in Yunnan and opened up an area in his estate dedicated to the study of Yunnan Rosa coffee cultivation.

The rose summer variety we are familiar with originated from the primeval forest in the Gesha region of Ethiopia. It is an Arabica coffee variety with good disease resistance but low yield. At that time, when collecting rose summer varieties, a variety of coffee plants were collected, named after the regional Gesha, and sent to British plantations in Kenya for research.

And in 1936 transplant in Tanzania to continue research and cultivation, introduced to Costa Rica in 1953, and numbered T2722. The Panamanian region introduced the rose variety T2722 in the 1960s. In order to adapt to the local environment and constantly optimize its genes, it formed the aroma and flavor of exquisite flowers and fruits that we are familiar with, and became famous in 2004.

Although Rosa coffee has become famous, many countries have begun to grow Rosa coffee beans, but the flavor is not as delicate as that grown in the high-altitude areas of Panama. Even the use of Rosa Variety, which has been "tamed" by Panama, cannot have the same flavor.

With the popularity of the Panamanian Rosa variety, some coffee researchers returned to the Rosa sampling site based on the data, looking for the ancestors and descendants of T2722, hoping to pick a pingti version of wild Rosa coffee beans, and the results were really found by the researchers. but the relationship can be said to be not very close, but have some of the same genes.

In terms of flavor, Essel's Rosa coffee beans are not so delicate. After all, wild Rosa has not been genetically modified by humans and nature in different regions. Therefore, although the flavor will also have flower and fruit aromas, but it is not particularly bright, with almond aromas, and the taste is not as rich as Panamanian Rosa coffee beans.

The same is true of Yunnan's rosy summer coffee beans. Whether it is the rose summer of T2722 or the rose summer of Ethiopia, the flavor of rose summer coffee will change after coming to Yunnan. One is that the altitude of planting is not as high as that of Africa and Central and South America, and the composition of the soil is also very different from the climate.

The varieties of Rosa coffee grown in Yunnan will have the acidity of Bolin, the sour and sweet of berries, the fermented feeling of black tea, and the nutty finish. The flower fragrance is not obvious, and it is relatively clean, balanced and mellow on the whole.
