Cloudy weather is Fan Kizuo's favorite weather.
The thick clouds blocked the hot sun, and the breeze brought a trace of coolness that I had not seen for a long time. It was a good time for weeding in the coffee garden. Pan Kenzo took his hoe and went out the door.
Fan Kizuo's coffee field is located 1350 meters in the Gaoligong Mountain range of Lujiangba. He has been farming in this rich and beautiful land for more than twenty years.
For Pan Kizuo, coffee is not only a living, but also a kind of emotional sustenance and persistence.
Tibica coffee, native to Ethiopia and southeastern Sudan, is the most widely cultivated variety of coffee in the Western Hemisphere. The plant is strong and not resistant to light. Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee, Hawaii Kona and other high-quality coffee recognized by the world is this kind of coffee.
As one of the earliest coffee varieties introduced to Lujiangba, because of its long growth cycle, low yield and weak disease resistance, the difficulty and income of planting make this excellent coffee variety recognized in the world gradually replaced by other high-yield varieties, and even become a rare variety.
Up to now, Pan Kizuo still insists on growing Tibica.
Because of the pressure of life, Pan Kizuo can only keep part of the field to grow Tibica. Because of the low yield, the main source of income can only be the sale of seeds. But because of his love of coffee, he refused to give up this last persistence.
Yunnan has the earliest history of growing coffee in China. Baoshan Lujiangba has started large-scale coffee industry since the 1950s, with perennial high temperature, suitable rainfall, sufficient light and red volcanic ash soil rich in minerals. it makes the natural conditions of growing coffee particularly superior, and the coffee produced is of good quality and mellow aroma. Now Lujiangba has become the largest coffee variety base and one of the important producing areas in China.
