Introduction to the Origin of products and varieties of Ecuador
Characteristics.
Ecuador is a large coffee producer and one of the few countries in the world that export all kinds of coffee, including coffee beans, Arabica coffee and robusta coffee.
Thanks to its superior location, Ecuador produces the best coffee in South America, meeting the high standards of coffee in Europe and the United States. Different ecosystems have led to coffee plantations all over Ecuador and even to the Galapagos Islands. For seasonal differences, Arabica coffee is produced from March to October and Robusta coffee from February to November.
Products and varieties in Ecuador
Ecuador produces green, hot and instant coffee. The main types of Arabica coffee are Tibica, bourbon and Kaddura.
Place of origin:
Coffee beans: Loha, Zamora, Manawi, El Oro, Inbabula, Karch and Galapagos Islands.
Arabica coffee: Loha, Manawi, Zamora, El Oro, Inbabula, Karch and Galapagos Islands.
Robusta: Sukombios, Oreana, Napo, Picincha, Los Rios and Gaias.
Instant coffee: Gaias and Manawi.

In 2012, Ecuador exported 51546 tons of coffee, with an export value of US $260 million. The main target markets are Germany, Japan, the United States, the Netherlands and Poland.

Ecuador has been making coffee since 1860. The Hippihaba region of Manawi province has always been an important coffee producer.
At present, there are more than 100000 families working on coffee production.
Quality coffee in Ecuador has different certifications: organic certification, reciprocal trade, rainforest alliance and bird friendliness.
