It is said that during World War II, when the Japanese occupied Indonesia, some Japanese soldiers went to a cafe run by the Mantenin to drink coffee. They thought the coffee provided by the owner was very good, so they asked the owner about the name of the coffee, and the owner mistakenly thought they were asking who they were, so they answered that they were from Mantenin. So the Japanese soldiers thought this kind of coffee was called Mantenin. After that, one of the Japanese soldiers thought that the coffee they drank in Indonesia was of great commercial value, and he wanted to introduce it to the Japanese market, so he contacted an Indonesian businessman. buy "Manning" coffee from him. Instead of rejecting the deal because there was no coffee called Mantenin, the shrewd businessman shipped 15 tons of coffee from Sumatra to Japan. Before that, the high-quality and delicious Indonesian coffee had never been exported to any country, and since then, the name "Manning" has spread all over the world.

Indonesia is a large coffee producer, mainly in Java, Sumatra and Sulawi.

In the 17th century, the Dutch first introduced Arabica saplings to Ceylon and Indonesia. In 1877, Indonesia suffered from large-scale coffee rust, which caused serious disease to Arabica trees which had been operated by the local people for many years, thus introducing robusta coffee species with strong disease resistance. Today, in Indonesia, robusta coffee accounts for 90% of the total production, while Sumatra manning is the only Arabica coffee variety!

The origin of Manning:

Mandheling is actually the homonym of Mandenin!

When Japan occupied Indonesia during World War II, a Japanese soldier came to a cup of mellow coffee in an Indonesian coffee shop and asked the clerk what kind of coffee he was drinking. Because of the difference in language communication, the clerk mistakenly thought he was asking where you are from. So the answer is: Mandheling.

Returning to Japan after the war, the Japanese soldiers often recalled the cup of mellow coffee called Mandheling that they drank in Indonesia, so they asked Indonesian coffee merchants to ship 15 tons of coffee to Japan, which was very popular.

In this way, the name Mandheling became popular in Japan, and in the end, the name became Manning!
