An introduction to the History of Holy Lake Manor
Saint Lake Manor, a family business that has been producing ultra-premium coffee for more than 100 years, is located in the heart of the famous traditional Lake Attila province in the western highlands of Guatemala. Located in San Pedro between Mount San Pedro and Lake Attila (Lake Atitlan is known as the most beautiful lake in the world), Chacay á covers an area of 180ha, of which 46 hectares are grown coffee and the rest are excellent nature reserves. The elevation of the Holy Lake Manor ranges from 1500m to 2100m, and the manor surrounded by lakes, three volcanoes and other nature reserves enjoys breathtaking magnificent scenery.
The production capacity of Holy Lake Manor is about 45 to 90 tons. The quality of coffee is its most valuable asset, and because of its high altitude and fertile volcanic soil, many different microclimates and the practical positive effects of good agriculture can be found on the manor. the advantages of adjacent lakes, volcanoes and natural mountains are an important factor in determining microclimate. The coffee grown in the Holy Lake Manor uses the traditional treatment; from manual selection of red berries, peeling, natural fermentation, washing to sun drying, are all carried out in the manor.
Many different varieties, mainly Typica, are grown on the coffee estate, while the rest include Kaddura, bourbon, geisha, Pacamara and New World species. All coffee produced on the estate is exported in small batches to Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, Taiwan and the United States. Holy Lake Manor won the award for Best Coffee of the year in Lake Attila in 2014.
