Indonesian civet coffee Kopi Luwak, Indonesia (Civet coffee)

Indonesia exports a treasure, that is the world's most expensive coffee-civet coffee Kopi Luwak, only produced in Indonesia.

Although Auleo is not a good coffee person, but now that he has come to Indonesia and its first capital, Jakarta, he has to try it (though he doesn't know much about all kinds of coffee).

Kopi Luwak is a kind of coffee that is carefully selected from the mountain by a wild musk cat, which passes through its body but is not completely digested and then refined. Just looking at the above description (not mentioning "feces" as much as possible) is actually quite disgusting.

The following is a more official explanation:

As the activity range of Luwak belongs to low and middle altitude, most of the coffee varieties are robusta beans, while Arabica beans at high altitude are rarer. When Luwak looks for food at night, through its keen sense of smell, only the most ripe, sweet, full and juicy coffee fruits in the coffee tree are selected to eat. The fruit breaks down the outer flesh through its digestive system, but the hard core is still discharged intact without digestion. During digestion, the stomach acid of Luwak decomposes the bitter substance "protein" of coffee beans, and the fermentation of special bacteria in the intestinal tract produces unparalleled changes. Its flavor becomes unique, the taste is particularly mellow, and the rich and round sweet taste of other coffee beans is incomparable. So the Indonesian fermented coffee beans are collected, dried, washed, shelled, selected, roasted and other steps to produce the rarest, most unique and most precious coffee in the world.

In fact, I also wonder why coffee after such a step is so popular and expensive. It is said that in Singapore, the price of a cup of Kopi Luwak is S $17.

I did some homework online and learned that there is a Kopi Luwak cafe in Grand Indonesia Mall, a top shopping mall in Jakarta (similar to Secret Recipe in Singapore, where you can also taste some desserts).

The cafe, called Kopi Luwak, is located in LG in Grand Indonesia Mall, next to Betawi Caf é, and after drinking coffee, you can taste the delicacies of the authentic Jakarta Betawi.

There are two kinds of Kopi Luwak sold in Kopi Luwak, one is 100% full Kopi Luwak, and the other is only 5% and 95% other varieties of coffee. Of course the price is different!

5% Kopi Luwak they call Kopi Luwak Gold Blend, the price is 23500 rupiah (about RM 8), while the authentic Kopi Luwak (they call Authentic Sachet) does not have a price, but is based on the current price. My price at the end of March was 75000 rupiah (about RM 25), which is the most expensive cup of coffee I have ever had.

The price is different, the hospitality is also different, and the cups of Kopi Luwak are different. The receptionist will also soak you in front of the guests, although it is only a ready-to-drink coffee bag.

I can't tell what's different about Kopi Luwak. I just think Kopi Luwak feels more dregs and more powder.

After that, they also gave away a coaster as a souvenir.

Would you like to try a cup of Kopi Luwak?
