Introduction:
Tanzania stands on Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak.
The southern coffee producing area Ruvama is named after its administrative district.
The name comes from the Ruvuma River, the main river in the area.
The town of Mbinga, which produces coffee, is located in a remote corner of Tanzania.
Mbinga and its surrounding areas mainly rely on coffee trade.
Coffee is grown on volcanic soil and could have had excellent quality.
But in the early years, coffee farmers usually harvested too early in order to repay their loans.
The manual stripping machine, washing equipment and water used in our own treatment are not clean.
The drying process is also more than on the ground, and the quality of harvest and post-processing is disappointing.
In order to improve the processing process, two local attempts have been made to introduce a pulper / peel remover (Pulperies).
From 1963 to 1964, cooperatives built a batch of pulpers and operated them for several years.
The initial results were good, but gradually the equipment fell into disrepair
The quality of the output can no longer enable farmers to get enough income.
From late 1980 to early 1990, some of the facilities were rebuilt with European financial assistance.
However, it is unable to continue to operate production because of the chaotic situation.
In 1997, two private enterprises in China decided to invest resources to improve the coffee quality of Mbinga.
They repaired and managed the treatment equipment in villages and towns, and built 13 new central pulpers and 8 miniature pulpers.
In order to ensure proper postharvest treatment, they built a central treatment plant in Mbinga, even in bad weather conditions.
It can also be processed in the factory and through more detailed grading operations.
First of all, coffee beans of AAA grade (19 items) are distinguished as commodities in Tanzania.
The farmer gathered the picked coffee cherries here and first spread them flat on the inspection table.
Make sure that there are no immature and overripe berries mixed in, and the selected coffee cherries will be weighed.
And the purchase fee to coffee farmers is calculated on this basis. The weighed coffee cherries are poured into the big water tank.
The light and floating coffee cherries are picked up and graded to G2 for separate treatment.
The cherry of normal weight sinks to the bottom of the tank and selects the damaged fruit along the channel.
Then through the peel removal machine to reach the fermentation tank, washing fermentation for 2 to 3 days.
After washing the attached jelly from the cleaning channel, concentrate the shelled beans on the drying platform for drying.
And remove the damaged beans until the water content of the shell beans is reduced to an appropriate proportion.
Then send it to a storage environment suitable for air-conditioning conditions until shelled.
In order to get farmers to give up their own processing in poor conditions.
The processing plant is willing to pay the same or more for coffee cherries.
On the one hand, farmers can get their income earlier, on the other hand, they don't have to do post-harvest homework at home.
So that farmers can focus more on taking care of their coffee and harvesting, in order to improve the quality of purchased coffee.
