The Gatongbaiya treatment plant in Nieli, Kenya, belongs to the Barichu cooperative together with the Gattulli treatment plant. The Jiatongbai sub-treatment plant, which originally belonged to the Mathira cooperative, joined the Barichu cooperative in 1996 and won the coffee raw bean quality award of the cooperative from 2005 to 2006.

Gatongbaiya collects raw coffee beans from 698 small farmers in four nearby villages. The managers and responsible persons of these small farmers and processing plants go to the cooperative every two years to receive professional training in raw bean handling and machine operation for two weeks.

Gatomboya is located in the best-known Nyeri producing area in Kenya and is arguably the most representative washing treatment plant in the region. The coffee in this processing plant causes a rush to buy coffee every year, and the supply falls short of demand. The raw beans treated adopt the strictest screening criteria, picking only the cherry fruits with the best maturity for treatment. This practice makes the harvest operation need to be carried out in several stages. It also increases the operating cost, but the efforts will be reflected in the excellent cup performance. As soon as the harvested coffee cherries are sent to the processing plant, they are selected and graded immediately, followed by peeling, followed by traditional Kenyan double fermentation washing (double fermentation & washed), and finally dried in an African-style elevated scaffolding. The raw beans of this processing plant can be said to have won numerous honors, and almost all the internationally renowned roasters are sold on the shelves every year.
