Imagine owning your own volcano? Carlos Batres has been growing coffee for more than 30 years. He lives every day with coffee growing on the slopes of Monte Carlo, a private volcano that sits in the El Apaneca district. Monte Carlo Estate has more than 688 hectares of land surrounded by volcanoes and grows many different varieties of coffee beans. The 340 hectares of forest protected area on the estate is a unique landscape that provides good conditions for the growth of coffee trees-a microclimate surrounded by clouds all year round, high altitude and rich volcanic soil. Shady coffee trees line the slopes, stretching to the volcano's rim. The ripe cherries are picked manually and processed using traditional home-style processing yards inherited from the 1870s. Coffee beans are washed three times in clear, sparkling spring water and dried under patios to create a bright, pleasant and exciting coffee flavor.
The label was inspired by the coffee trees growing around the crater, good drainage and fertile volcanic soil, allowing coffee to grow in the best environment. A large number of topographic maps and soil maps are included in the label. Aerial views of volcanoes representing different types of terroir, elevation and texture. Vibrant hues inspired by traditional Salvadoran costumes and wildlife. The print has a volcanic gold silhouette and porous texture reminiscent of volcanic rock.
Flavor Description: A special creamy aroma, caramel, red cherry sour, with moderate acidity and a little sweet.
