Brief History of Burmese Coffee Minghella (Myagola Coffee)
On July 13, 1813, the American Baptist Adoniram Judson and Ann Judson, Protestant missionaries known as the Apostles of Burma, came to Myanmar with Catholicism and coffee. As an indispensable drink in daily life, they began to try to grow coffee trees in Myanmar.
In 1885, Burma became a British colony, and the colonists offered Burmese coffee to Queen Victoria, and then began to introduce coffee from the British royal estate to grow in Myanmar.
In 1894, due to geographical and other reasons, Britain moved the then administrative office from Maing Thauk (Bao Stedman) on the east bank of Lake Inle to Dongzhi. Dongzhi is located on the Shan Plateau in southeastern Myanmar at an altitude of 1436 meters. It is the political, cultural and commercial center of Shan State. It is the fourth largest city in Myanmar and has a tropical and subtropical climate. Because of its unique geographical and climatic environment, Dongzhi Coffee has become the representative of Myanmar's top coffee.
In 2015, according to the rating of 200 coffee experts, including Win rock International of the United States, Burmese coffee scored 85 points, and the Burmese Coffee grower Association declared that Burmese coffee is of the best quality among ASEAN countries.

Introduction of origin
The unpolluted Pure Land producing area of Meimiao Mountain, Myanmar, is geographically located between 18 and 24 degrees north latitude, and almost all of the territory is within the latitude of the International Coffee producing area (COFFEE ZONE). In particular, Mangshan is mainly plateau and mountain topography, the soil is fertile, the temperature difference between day and night can reach 22 degrees Celsius, the greater the temperature difference, is the best condition for the production of sweet fruit coffee. With a height of 500m to 3000 m, annual rainfall of about 1500MM~2000MM, moderate temperature and humidity, and mostly thick forests, Arabica coffee can be said to be an excellent place to grow.
Burma began to grow coffee beans in 1885, but there has been no export or obvious commercial trace for nearly a hundred years.
In the middle and late 20th century, the United Nations Drug abuse Control Program (UNDCP) began to promote coffee cultivation in order to encourage Burmese farmers to give up opium poppy cultivation.
However, during this period, because of the huge profits of the original drugs and the substantial control of the junta, although many farmers joined the program to earn subsidies for growing coffee, they were actually still growing opium poppies.
Nevertheless, as of a few years ago, Myanmar had 100,000 acres of coffee fields, more than half of which were near Southern Shan State and Wacheng.
Regardless of Myanmar's current coffee processing technology, large areas of natural shade forests and low-pollution natural environment, give Myanmar the potential to achieve quality coffee.
Burmese agricultural officials also plan to send agricultural experts around the world to search for suitable varieties and retrieve plants and seeds.
Myanmar can find many well-known bean varieties, H528, Catual, SL34, S795, Blue Mountain and the best quality S795, which are enough to compete with common traditional varieties.
