Katuji treatment plant was built in 1979, is a member of Othaya farmers cooperative, located in the south of Neri District, east of Aberdare slope, about 140 kilometers north of Nairobi City, Kenya capital, about 1860 meters above sea level, treatment plant members about 750 people, planting area of about 233 acres. The coffee bush here is nourished by volcanic red earth with good drainage and rich organic matter. The altitude and cool climate make the coffee fruit mature slowly, resulting in extremely hard green coffee beans. The main growing season is from October to December, with an average of 250-300 coffee trees planted on each farm. The farmers strictly observe the planting guidelines established under the supervision of the regional committee. At the same time, in order to enhance biodiversity and maintain good crop growth, they also implement intercropping methods-besides coffee, grevillea and macadamia are planted as shade trees, bananas, etc.

Kenya Micro Lot Series

Kenya's specialty coffee industry is different from the general one. It takes the form of a combination of small farmers, wet processing plants and cooperatives. Farmers will send the harvested coffee cherries to nearby processing plants or cooperatives in the shortest time possible. At the same time, the cooperative regularly sends staff to coach local farmers to ensure that each producer has professional planting skills to maintain coffee quality. Every year, Soocheng Coffee flies to Kenya and selects the best batches of the year from all regions of Kenya in the capital, Niyeli.
