Hacienda Sonora is a century-old estate owned by Alberto Guardia and Diego Guardia.
Sonora Estate is located in the western and central valleys of Costa Rica and operates with special emphasis on environmental protection. Of the 100 hectares of land, 35 hectares remain as virgin forest and 20 hectares are planted with sugar cane. What is even more surprising is that all the electricity used in the estate comes from the hydropower equipment on the estate. The surplus electricity is also provided free of charge to the employees working on the estate. The whole estate is like a small community. The estate provides wages, free accommodation, and health care.
Sonora Estate in Costa Rica can be said to be a pioneer in varieties and treatments, and the combination of varieties and treatments produced each year can be said to be the must-have of European and American baking merchants.
There are seven different coffee tree varieties in the garden, including Bourbon, Red Catuai, Yellow Catuai, Venecia, Villa Sarchi, Villalobos, Geisha, and only produce honey and sun treated coffee;
The coffee cherries produced by Sonora Manor are all processed in its own micro-processing plant. When picking, strict ripening screening procedures are carried out. Then, according to different processing methods, every link is processed with great attention to detail. Finally, strict manual selection of defective beans is required. This is also the main reason why the flavor in the cup is so rich but the cleanliness is preserved.
