Panamanian Coffee Manor-Plana Manor Information introduction
La Berlina Manor Coffee Farm was founded by Diaz, a soldier from Colombia who was sent to Panama in the early 20th century to suppress the rise of separatism, and when Panama gained independence, these soldiers, like Diaz, had two choices: to return to Colombia or to stay in Panama. Diaz fell in love with a girl in Bockett as well as in Bockett. He chose to stay and start growing coffee for a living.
In the mountains outside Boquete, the Diaz family found many wild Tibica coffee trees, Arabica "purebred" coffee, and built an 80-acre farm here. However, most of the coffee is completely wild, scattered in the rich volcanic soil of the rainforest, because raccoons nibble on coffee cherries on coffee farms below and sow seeds after returning to high elevations. By the 1920s, in order to support the family, the family had built a "perfect and sustainable farm", a small sugar factory powered by water wheels, cornfields, chickens and pigs.
At first, the children were formal coffee pickers, assisted by neighbors and some Ngobe Indians who came to work on the surrounding farms during the coffee harvest. During the harvest season, the family works for nearly seven days, working 24 hours a day to pick cherries and then take them to a water wheel-driven mill to remove coffee syrup and slime (natural sugar coating). During this time, coffee is stored in a special attic to use the dry roof and warm rising air to preserve ventilation. For families, coffee is often used as a trade currency to obtain "luxury goods", such as new shoes for the family, or even education for children. One year, a teenage son cut a hole in the ceiling of the attic and made a few pounds of coffee as money to bring his girlfriend on a date.
By the early 1930s, the coffee farm at La Berlina Manor had produced a recognized high quality coffee; however, over time, self-sufficient farms could not produce enough produce to feed a growing family, which now includes more children and several new members. With the passage of time and the low price of coffee, Diaz's son, Don Manuel, was forced to sell the farm-the only way of life he knew.
La Berlina Manor, now run by the Ruiz family, is still promoting Bock's original coffee cultivation, and the fourth generation of the family continues to learn how to grow and process coffee, not only through the use of existing technology, but also from past experience, with the aim of bringing delicious coffee from La Berlina Manor to the world.
At the beginning of the new century, professional manufacturers are facing new challenges. It was in these years that Rose Summer of 2004 was discovered in the famous Finca Esmeralda of Nicaragua.
In 2005, Price Peterson sold the 5-pound geisha Esmeralda to Prinio Ruiz, who used the seeds to plant and develop a nursery. By the beginning of 2006, about 3,500 plants were ready to be planted in mid-2006. The best coffee seedlings on the farm built rows of coffee trees side by side with the ancient Tibica to achieve great success. The plantation was expanded in 2008, and by 2010, the first 5-pound geisha were harvested from Berlin. What's really amazing is that in 2011, the farm harvested 250 pounds, some of which won the best harvest in Panama in 2011!
