Have you ever had blue mountain coffee coffee?

Think about it before you answer this question.

For example, think about the price of that Blue Mountain coffee you drink. Is a kilo of raw beans (green beans) more than 600 yuan?

If not, you don't have to doubt it. You're drinking fake Blue Mountain.

The word Blue Mountain is now rotten on the street, and you can find a lot of Blue Mountain coffee by searching for coffee beans on various online shopping platforms.

However, there is a lot of tricks in it!

For example, if you take a closer look at the names of these coffees, they are not simply "Blue Mountain Coffee", but similar to "Blue Mountain Coffee" (blue mountain flavor coffee) and "Blue Mountain blend" (blue mountain blend).

At least that's what regular coffee brands do, but there are some messy coffee brands that may write directly about Blue Mountain.

And these big brands go to a lot of trouble to use such names because these coffees are not strictly Blue Mountain Coffee.

The so-called Blue Mountain is a mountain in Jamaica, which has a good climate and is an excellent coffee producing area (coffee origin). Because of this, the real Blue Mountain coffee is regarded as a kind of fine coffee (specialty coffee).

But not all the coffee on the Blue Mountain is called Blue Mountain Coffee. Only coffee at a specific altitude is certified (certificated). The annual output is so small that most people do not have access to it.

Traditionally, only coffee grown at elevations between 910 metres and 1700 metres could be called Jamaica Blue Mountain. Coffee grown at elevations between 460 metres and 910 metres is called Jamaica High Mountain, and coffee grown below 460 metres elevation is called Jamaica Supreme or Jamaica Low Mountain. All land in Jamaica above 1700 metres is a forest preserve, so no coffee is grown there.

According to tradition, only coffee produced between 910m and 1700 m above sea level can be called "Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee". Produced from 460 to 910 meters above sea level can only be called "Jamaican Alpine Coffee". Those produced below 460 meters can only be called "Jamaican Supreme Coffee" or "Jamaican low Mountain Coffee". (the area above 1700 meters in Jamaica is a forest reserve, so there is no coffee in it. )

Because of this, in the eyes of many baristas (barista), talking about "Blue Mountain Coffee" is often "one of the three most uncultural topics" in the coffee industry. The other two are "Kopi Luwak" and "Why is this coffee sour".)

In other words, according to professionals, Blue Mountain Coffee does taste good, but its high price is not entirely because it tastes good; one of the main reasons for its high price is that its trade has long been monopolized by Japanese traders (monopolize), and yes, a large part of the price has nothing to do with its quality.

And the reason why there is so much coffee trying to cut to the top of the Blue Mountain is not because it really tastes good in the sky, but because everyone knows the name and thinks it is high-end, so of course merchants cater to this fantasy (cater).
